PENDANT

The 1979 collection, the result of a collaboration between Darmes and Will Choui – a Montreal designer whose vision is characterized by a balance between functionality and sculptural form – captures the raw essence of an era through light and materials. Inspired by the Brutalist and Modernist architecture of late 1970’s Montreal, these fixtures balance function and form. A square aluminum module, both structured and refined, diffuses indirect light through a grid, blending shadow and brilliance.

Choui reinterprets brutalist solidity with a sense of balance, transforming the luminaire into an artifact of memory. Stripped of all excess, 1979 reduces light to its purest form, where nostalgia and innovation meet to revive the beauty of a bygone era.
